Yom Sh'mini is a day of passing responsibility for the world and apiritual/Divine access respectfully to Adam (with Eve) and to Aaron (with Nadav and Avihu). Adam (or Eve rather) errs (expulsion from Gan Eden and subsequent mortality). Nadav and Avihu err (death sentence). Pain and loss are so frequently a price getting too close and violating boundaries, also interpersonal ones.

Second one. Nadav and Avihu as the earlier version of the "Four entered Pardes" Mishna?
Best, EwaAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06937588230167072565noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35813316.post-56085519602574048732007-04-13T16:30:00.000-04:002007-04-13T16:30:00.000-04:00Don Imus playing with fire? Hard to sympathize with him the way we do with Nadav and Avihu.
Playing with fire means taking a risk for a purpose not recognized by authorities or the multitudes who follow the authorities.David L. Together they form a trio of tales suppressing human creativity (in worship and beyond). Why did God disdain Cain's offering? Why were the Elohim so threatened by human cooperation and architectural creativity? And why is worship from the heart -- for so it must be if the priestboys varied the exact, strict rules of incense -- zapped with death?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17356570448319237434noreply@blogger.com
